The OG team is going through a challenging period and is facing a series of difficulties that have been accumulating over recent months. In a recent interview, OG players Khezu and N0tail shared their thoughts on the team's issues, roster changes, and new priorities ahead of the upcoming qualifiers.
Speaking about OG's recent struggles, khezu noted that the team's problems didn't arise suddenly but built up over time:
Obviously, many factors influenced this. It didn't happen suddenly but developed gradually. I think the problems were on several levels.
His teammate, N0tail, also confirmed that internal issues with team dynamics and individual misunderstandings have been one of the main reasons for the decline in performance:
It started with individual misunderstandings—perhaps not all players were a good fit. For me, it was something that had been building from the start.
One reason for the changes in OG's roster was the fatigue and lack of motivation among some players. According to N0tail, sometimes players are not willing to stay with the team if they don't feel motivated to work together:
Team development always varies. Players don't always want to play together just because of how one of them plays. It's important who is willing to work on a new project and who remains motivated.
Khezu added that after a series of losses, it became clear that some players simply needed a break:
After the recent losses, it became evident that for some, it wasn't working. Some players just burned out. Nova needed a break, and Seb was also tired. New roster spots were chosen based on many factors.
When it became clear that the previous roster wasn't delivering the needed results, the team had to change the situation.
The team needed a change. It became obvious because it clearly wasn't working. For some, it wasn't even as exciting as it should have been, perhaps due to stress or different views on the game. The overall reason was to change something, bring in something new, and allow those who want to move on to do so, and those who need rest to take it.
Regarding the new players in OG's roster, khezu emphasized the importance of not only talent but also the right approach to work:
Talent is certainly necessary for success, but mentality is also important. It's not just about the game but also about professionalism. It's important to create the best environment where each player can reach their full potential.
N0tail also noted that they are looking for not only experienced players but also those who are willing to work on themselves and respect the team process:
We are looking for players with the right mindset. They don't necessarily have to be experienced veterans, but they should be willing to invest in the work and respect the process.
Speaking about the team's upcoming plans, khezu highlighted the importance of preparing for future qualifying tournaments like DreamLeague, regional qualifiers, and TI:
The main focus right now is on future qualifiers—DreamLeague, regional qualifiers, and TI. We need to get the team in shape so we can be competitive, as we haven't been lately.
Answering a question about the criteria for success, N0tail emphasized that it's important not only to win but also to deliver quality gameplay at a high level:
For me, success is a new, fresh vision of Dota and qualification. We don't necessarily have to win the tournament, but competing at the highest level and defeating top opponents would be a great success.
The OG team is experiencing a tough period, with only two players remaining in the roster. However, the organization is determined to rebuild the roster and return to the top level by focusing on preparation for the qualifiers and seeking new players.
