JaCkky returns to BOOM Esports ahead of the new season

The Indonesian organization BOOM Esports faced several roster issues in their Dota 2 division during 2024, but it seems those challenges are now coming to an end. Yesterday, the team officially welcomed Souliya "JaCkky" Khoomphetsavong back, signaling that the organization is ready for new challenges.

Performance in the current season

The year 2024 brought mixed results for the Indonesian team. BOOM Esports failed most of their qualifiers and missed out on all major events, including ESL One Birmingham 2024, Riyadh Masters 2024, and The International 2024. However, they managed to secure a total prize pool of around $232,000 from smaller and local tournaments. A turning point occurred in early August when all players and the coaching staff left the organization.

The reason behind this decision remains unknown, but as a result, the team signed five new players—two as substitutes and three on a permanent basis. Despite the changes, the revamped roster failed to qualify for DreamLeague Season 24, effectively ending their competitive season.

JaCkky's return

Nonetheless, BOOM Esports has no plans to stop, as they recently made a key change to their Dota 2 lineup. First, the team parted ways with position 5 player Djardel "DJ" Mampusti. Yesterday, the organization announced the return of their former player Souliya "JaCkky" Khoomphetsavong, who had already represented the team on the international stage in 2022. JaCkky will take on the role of position 1 carry, while Daniel "Ghost" Chan, the current team carry, will transition to full support.

As mentioned, JaCkky previously played under the BOOM banner from February to November 2022. During that time, he helped the team secure victories at GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Dubai 2022, DPC SEA 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division I, and GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Thailand 2022. Additionally, the team qualified for the biggest tournament of the year, The International 2022, where they placed 9th-12th.

JaCkky’s performance in his previous stint with BOOM was highly impressive, making it no surprise that the management decided to bring him back. The team currently has no scheduled events, so we will only get to see the revamped roster in action once the next competitive season begins.
