In the evening of January 29, a Dota 2 update was released, introducing a new chest to honor the Chinese New Year. It contains 9 sets, but an unused tenth set was discovered in the game files, which did not make it into the final version of the Serpent Beauties chest.

Reddit users noted that some localizations of the game mention 10 sets in the new chest, while the official English description only lists 9. Initially, @CatStepan6 claimed that this is related to updated requirements for the Dragon Knight model, as its files had changes in textures and polygons:

• TextureWidth – increased from 512 to 1024
• MaxPolygonsLOD0 – from 6000 to 16000
• MaxPolygonsLOD1 – from 4000 to 6400

However, he later found another unused object in the files – an alternative model for the Flesh Golem form in Undying. This might mean that Valve initially planned to add a set for this hero, but for some reason, it did not make it into the final version of the chest.

It is currently unknown whether the tenth set will return in the future, or if it was completely canceled. Valve has not provided any comments regarding this situation, but considering the frequent changes in cosmetic items, there is a chance that we may see it in upcoming updates.
