After the start of The International 2024, players have started picking certain carry heroes more frequently in public matches. Among the trending heroes are Luna, Mirana, and Windranger.
The most significant change in pick rate trends occurred with Luna. Compared to the beginning of the group stage at The International, this hero’s pick rate has increased by 10.2%.
The reason behind this surge is that Luna performed exceptionally well in the professional scene in the carry position, achieving a win rate of 81.25% (based on 16 games), which made her a favorite among regular players.
Tundra's player, Topson, called Luna the most overpowered hero in the current meta during an interview after their victory over Falcons.

Mirana takes second place in terms of rising pick rates (+6.17%). However, her overall win rate has dropped by 2.07%. This is likely due to players' inability to utilize the hero as effectively as on the pro scene, where her win rate remains around 65%.
In third place among the heroes that have been picked more frequently in public Dota 2 matches is Windranger. This hero was already quite popular, as according to Dotabuff, WR ranks seventh in overall popularity. However, additional pick rate growth was driven by her appearances in the group stage and playoffs, where she was picked the most — 31 times.
Other Dota 2 heroes whose pick rates have seen a moderate rise include Kunkka (+2.82%), Dragon Knight (+0.39%), and Sniper (+0.87%). These heroes are in the top 10 for the number of picks at The International, although the win rates for the latter two are low — less than 45%, based on 25+ games.
