Persona 5 The Phantom X Thief's Memories Explained

Thief's Memories is a special story mode of Persona 5: The Phantom X in which players have a chance to see more of character backgrounds, unlock extra scenes, and obtain special rewards. It's a mix of story progress, exploration of a Palace, and obtaining a specific resource.

How to Unlock Thief's Memories

To access Thief's Memories, players must first complete the initial Palace and defeat Kuichi, also known as the Subway Slammer. After doing so, a second tab will become available in the main menu (marked with a vinyl record icon). This is where the Memories section can be found.

How to Get Memory Shards

To view scenes in Thief's Memories, players need Memory Shards — a special currency that can only be obtained by exploring Palaces. They cannot be found in regular chests or puzzles. Instead, players must investigate specific objects that emit a distinct golden glow.

Examples of such objects include:

  • Vending machines in Kuichi’s Palace
  • Golden carp statues in Miyazawa’s Palace

These objects must be manually examined using the "Investigate" action. Only then will the player receive a Memory Shard.

What Thief's Memories Offers

Every unlocked scene provides additional story material, offering a glimpse into other characters' drives and backgrounds. Players are also rewarded with experience, resources, or unique items.

Once a Palace is 100% explored (completed), you can unlock additional scenes and rewards in Thief's Memories.

Thief's Memories is a key feature in Persona 5: The Phantom X, blending narrative depth with exploration mechanics.
