The Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024: European RMR A, held from November 17 to November 20, delivered some incredible matches as teams fought for the chance to qualify for the prestigious Major. The tournament determined seven participants who will compete in Shanghai, with four teams advancing directly to the Elimination Stage and three others entering through the Opening Stage. Let’s break down how the event unfolded and highlight the standout performances.
3:0 Results
MOUZ faced tougher opposition. Their 2:0 decider match against NAVI proved to be a nail-biter, with MOUZ recovering from losing their own map pick to win the series 2:1. Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás stood out, delivering one of his best performances in recent memory and helping MOUZ to secure their spot at the Major’s Elimination Stage.
3:1 Results
FaZe, NAVI, and Cloud9 fought through tough matches to claim their places at the Major.
FaZe, after falling to Vitality in the 2:0 match, rebounded impressively. They faced fnatic in the decider match and cruised to a clean 2:0 victory. FaZe showed solid team coordination, demonstrating why they remain a strong contender at the highest level.
NAVI also bounced back from their loss to MOUZ in the 2:0 match. Their decisive 2:0 win over SAW in the final match reaffirmed their strength as one of Europe’s top teams. Valerii "b1t" Vakhovskyi was a consistent performer throughout the event, proving himself as a key player for NAVI. The organization keeps its record streak of 21 consecutive Major appearances.
Cloud9’s journey was slightly more surprising. Starting with a BO1 loss to FaZe, the team showed resilience by defeating Nemiga, Sangal, and SINNERS in successive matches. Their qualification came as a pleasant surprise to fans, especially with Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko stepping up to lead the team to a 3:1 record.
3:2 Results
Fnatic and GamerLegion clinched the last two spots at the Major, advancing through the Opening Stage.
Fnatic’s recent roster changes have begun to pay off. Despite losses to NAVI and FaZe, the team looked strong in their victories. Benjamin "blameF" Bremer was a standout performer, delivering massive impact to push his team through. However, their AWPer Tim "nawwk" Jonasson struggled to make a significant impact, leaving room for improvement.
Disappointments of the RMR
Falcons emerged as the biggest disappointment of this RMR. With Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev leading the roster, expectations were high. However, the team could only manage a win against ECLOT in their opening match before suffering defeats to FaZe, SAW, and GamerLegion. Their inability to capitalize on their potential raised questions about the team’s synergy and long-term prospects.
Nemiga and Sangal also underperformed. Both teams had shown promise in the months leading up to the RMR but managed only a single victory each, against weaker opposition, before exiting the tournament at 1:3.
