jambo already shows why Fnatic signed him

Fnatic recently signed Dmytro "jambo" Semera as their new AWPer, replacing Denys "Burmylov" Buraha. Right away, this move looks like one of the smartest decisions the British organization has made in a while. jambo has already completed his first tournament with Fnatic, and the early signs show why he might be exactly what the team needed.

Before joining Fnatic, jambo spent three months with Passion UA in 2025, where he was undoubtedly the best player on the roster. Despite the team's poor performance, jambo consistently stood out, proving himself as a reliable and skilled player. This wasn’t a one-off — even in 2024, he managed to shine despite the team's struggles at a lower level of competition. Now that he’s in Fnatic, his impact compared to Burmylov is immediately clear. The team looks sharper, more aggressive, and much more dynamic.

Instant impact at Fnatic

Fnatic are still adjusting to their new in-game leader Rodion "fear" Smyk, who joined earlier this year. Fear and jambo have already built strong synergy from their time together in Passion UA and The Witchers, making the transition smoother. The team’s first tournament with this new lineup was Galaxy Battle 2025 // STARTER. Despite being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Aurora, jambo’s performance was nothing short of impressive.

His stats speak for themselves:

  • Rating vs 9INE – 7.0
  • Rating vs Aurora – 6.7

jambo’s playstyle is aggressive and fearless. He takes space on the map, creates openings, and isn’t afraid to take risks. That’s exactly what Fnatic needed — a player who can quickly change the pace and turn the tide of a round. His chemistry with fear shows in their coordinated plays and strategic executions.

Alongside him, teammates Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and Matúš "matys" Šimko are also in incredible form. These two consistently deliver strong performances, giving the team a reliable backbone. With jambo’s explosive potential and the solid core already in place, Fnatic are shaping up to be a serious contender.

Why did Fnatic wait so long?

Many fans wondered why Fnatic took so long to finalize jambo's transfer. The answer likely lies in the complexity of keeping Passion UA’s core intact. Losing both jambo and fear at the same time would have stripped Passion UA of their Valve ranking core, putting their Major chances at risk. The organization simply couldn’t afford to let him go until they had a stable replacement lineup in place.

Once that was secured, Fnatic wasted no time. They reportedly paid $600,000 — the largest fee they have ever spent on a CS player. The club’s CEO confirmed that it was the highest amount they’ve ever paid for any player in their Counter-Strike division. It might even be the most expensive signing in any game for Fnatic. But judging by jambo's early performance, the investment looks well justified.

A promising future ahead

At just 20 years old, jambo has already proven himself on LAN and shown he can handle the pressure of top-tier tournaments. His performances at the RMR and Major highlighted his potential, and he’s now thriving in an international environment. The combination of his youth and skill makes him an excellent long-term investment for Fnatic.

The team’s next challenges included the closed qualifier for PGL Astana 2025 where they were stopped by NIP at the group’s final and the closed qualifier for Conquest of Prague 2025. These events could secure them spots at upcoming LAN tournaments and, more importantly, a ticket to the Major Ranking Qualifier (MRQ). Given their current form, it’s highly likely that Fnatic will receive an MRQ invite and have a solid chance at claiming one of the coveted six Major slots.

Fnatic’s decision to sign jambo was undoubtedly a bold one, but it’s already showing signs of success. With his consistent performance, aggressive playstyle, and strong synergy with fear, jambo is proving to be a valuable asset to the team. As they continue to compete in upcoming qualifiers, all eyes will be on jambo to see if he can keep up his impressive form and help Fnatic secure a spot at the Major.
