Football Manager 2025: What to expect?! Release Date & First Glimpse

Football Manager 2025 has finally been properly announced, a long awaited reveal after months of troubling development updates from the developer, Sports Interactive.

The big selling points from the first look at Football Manager 2025 is the introduction of Women’s Football, as well as seeming changes to tactics and an updated graphics engine, now powered by the Unity engine.

However, there are some troubling signs, popular FM creators such as WorkTheSpace have already detailed some of their worries on YouTube.

When will Football Manager 2025 release?

According to the games Steam Store page, Football Manager 2025’s release date is 26th November 2024. 

This date is later than previous years, however, you can now pre-purchase the game with a 10% discount.

One thing that is worth mentioning though is that it seems there will be no early-access beta for Football Manager 2025. Typically, the FM early-access beta is mentioned alongside pre-order links, but that isn’t present this time around.

What new features will be in Football Manager 2025

The headline feature in the announcement post for Football Manager 2025 is the introduction of Women’s football, something that has been spoken about for a long time.

This will see 25,000 new players added to the game, a large amount that will see players able to enjoy full and detailed saves managing exclusively within Women’s football.

There is also a new UI being shown off, as well as the acknowledgement of the introduction of the Unity engine, something that is expected to breathe life into FM’s outdated graphics.

However, it might be better suited to mention what features are not in Football Manager 2025, as Sports Interactive have already said that a few favourite modes from past years will no longer be present within the game.

Create-a-club, Fantasy Draft, and international management will all no longer be present, as well as in-game features such as touchline shouts, meaning the game will feel stripped back compared to previous years.

It is worth mentioning that the announcement of Football Manager 2025 does promise that new features will be talked about in the future, however, outside of more details about Women’s Football in the week of October 7th, everything else is locked behind a ‘ Date to be announced’ screen.

Although we know little about the gameplay right now, screenshots of a work in progress version of the game have been made available on the Steam page of Football Manager 2025.

These screenshots seem to confirm recent leaks about in possession and out of possession tactics, as the screenshot of Fran Kirby’s profile seems to show the new ‘Channel Forward’ role.
