Farming Simulator 25 has gathered enthusiastic farmers and agriculture nerds for one purpose - to farm and grow your business. In this game, there are many types of crops that you can grow and sell to ultimately expand your farm. One of the most lucrative crops in Farming Simulator 25 is potatoes, but it requires hefty work. Here's how to grow, harvest, and sell potatoes in Farming Simulator 25.
First and foremost, you must ensure it is the right season for potatoes. In Farming Simulator 25, the Potato season is marked from March to April which is the best time for planting potatoes. Its harvest time is from August to September.
If you plant during the wrong season, the game won't let you do so. But if you want to continue regardless of the season timing, there's a way! You can disable the "Seasonal Growth" in Game Settings to plant regardless of seasonal timing.
Now here comes the tough part. Potato planting requires specific machineries and may not work out if you fail to cultivate your soil thoroughly. Although the basic steps to plant potatoes requires little to no work, following the intricate steps below will ENSURE healthy and lucrative potato growth.
Here are the step-by-step guide to grow potatoes in Farming Simulator 25.
1. Prepare the land
2. Mulch
3. Plowing
4. Stone Removal
5. Soil Liming
6. Soil Fertilization
7. Potato Planting
If you wish to just start with the basic steps, you can proceed with only cultivating the land, fertilizing, and planting the potatoes.
Potatoes are one of the tougher crops to harvest due to their complex structure, which demands a unique machine. A normal harvester wouldn't be able to remove and separate the foliage.
The machines you need to harvest potatoes can be found in the Potato Technology section which offers the Evo 290 for 205,000 Euros or the Ventor 4150 for 599,000 Euros.
We recommend the cheaper machine if you're just starting. But if you have the money to spend, go for the Ventor 4150 as it provides a larger width and more efficient harvesting method.
There are many options on where you can sell your potato crops. The go-to option is usually selling it to shops with demand. You can pick and choose which shop offers you the best price and take into account the logistics factor.
You could also use potatoes in your own factories to create a more lucrative product. The options are Soup Factory and Potato Processing Plant. However, you do need to invest heavily on these factories and it may not be suitable for farmers who are just starting out.
You could also save your crops aside and wait until the peak season. The potato peak season is in December and prices would hike, earning you more profit. Other than that, you could also use your potatoes to feed animals (if you have them) to save costs.
