Marvel Rivals is finally out to the public after months of being in the testing phase. This game is a multiplayer PVP shooter which sees some of the most iconic heroes from the Marvel universe team up to form a superstar squad. Given this game is available on Steam, many players have been wondering if the game will be playable on the handheld Steam Deck game console. Let's see how well Marvel Rivals will run on the Steam Deck.
Can Marvel Rivals run on the Steam Deck?
The short answer is yes, Marvel Rivals can run on the Steam Deck. With a few tweaks you're going to get around 60 FPS, there is a catch to that, however. At the moment, the game isn't really optimized for the handheld console. On top of that, the Steam Deck's GPU falls below the minimum graphics card needed to play Marvel Rivals, meaning players will have a more difficult time playing the competitive mode as they will be at a disadvantage.
If players were to put the settings to the lowest, you'll be able to play the game, but as mentioned before, any higher tier competitive aspirations would be squashed as the game averages between 40-60 FPS depending on how intense the fights are. Occasionally, the game would fall to as low as 20 when spectating a fellow teammate.
There is a way for players to gain a more consistent FPS, but it comes at the cost of increased input lag. Turning on the frame generation setting, players will get a more consistent FPS output, the only problem is the input delay will be noticeable, so it really just depends on the player and if they are willing to put up with the input delay in return for a more consistent frames per second.
