Nuke is one of the most difficult and tactical maps in Counter-Strike 2. Both sides, Terrorists (Ts) and Counter-Terrorists (CTs), need to master their smoke placements to control key areas of the map. For Ts, smokes are crucial for executing site takes and blocking vision, while CTs use smokes to delay pushes and cut off crucial lanes. Below, we’ve gathered five popular smoke spots for both Ts and CTs to elevate your game on Nuke.
T-Side Smokes on Nuke
1. Outside Cross Smokes (Red and Garage) The Outside area in Nuke is key to gaining map control. Ts often throw smokes to cross from T-Spawn towards Secret without getting picked off by snipers at Garage or Heaven.
- How to Throw: To execute the Red smoke, stand at the center of the fence, and aim at the right handlebar of the left side of the blue box. Once you’ve lined up the shot, perform a jump throw.
For the second smoke, walk up to the box used to line up the first smoke and position yourself at its right corner. Then, look up towards the section where the wires intersect. Once aligned, perform a left-click throw. This lineup may require practice to avoid leaving gaps between smokes, ensuring full coverage and effectiveness for your strategy.
- Why it’s Effective: It denies CT vision and forces them to guess whether you’re going towards Secret, splitting to Heaven, or staying near Outside.
2. Garage Smoke The Secret smoke complements the Outside Cross smokes, making it harder for the CTs to spot you dropping down the ramp.
- How to Throw: To execute this smoke, position yourself against the right side of the T spawn exit and aim at the middle pipe on the Silo, then align your crosshair with the second ring from the top of the Silo. Once lined up, perform a jump throw. The smoke will land outside Secret, effectively blocking off the vision of any players inside.
- Why it’s Effective: It allows your team to safely gain control of B-site or set up a fake for A-site control.
3. A-Site Heaven Smoke To take A-site, a Heaven smoke is essential, blocking the vision of CTs holding Heaven or the ladder room.
- How to Throw: To execute this smoke, go to the Lobby roof and stand on the pipe near the Silo. Aim for the third line from the left on the railing post, then move your crosshair up to align with the railing support. After lining up the shot, left-click to throw the smoke, blocking vision effectively.
- Why it’s Effective: It denies crucial overwatch positions and makes the A-site push much safer.
4. Main Entrance Smoke Smoking Main (also known as Big Garage) helps when your team is executing an A-site push. This blocks the CTs' view from the Garage area.
- How to Throw: To smoke the Outside Main/Mini area from the T-side Red spot, position yourself in front of the fence behind the Blue Box. Look at the bottom wire in the direction of Mini and perform a two-step running throw.
- Why it’s Effective: It prevents CTs from peeking into A-site from Main and allows you to execute A-site without being contested.
5. Top Main Smoke To control Yard, smoking the top of Silo can stop CTs from using this high ground to spot or snipe your team.
- How to Throw: Stand between the pipe and trash bin in T Spawn, aim at the wire beneath the vent, and perform a jump-throw.
- Why it’s Effective: This setup allows for an early and efficient smoke to block visibility at Main/Mini, providing your team with safer control over the outside area, while saving time compared to traditional lineups.
6. Secret Smoke
- How to Throw: To execute the secret smoke for outside control on Nuke, position yourself against the right side of the T spawn exit. Aim at the middle pipe on the silo, then adjust your crosshair to the second ring from the top of the silo. Once lined up, jump throw the smoke, and it will land outside Secret, blocking the vision of anyone inside.
- Why it’s Effective: The secret smoke is a powerful utility for taking outside control on Nuke, especially if you don’t want to commit to B. It blocks the view of enemies watching from secret, allowing you to safely transition to A through mini, push CT spawn, or even wrap around ramp to B.
CT-Side Smokes on Nuke
1. Outside Smoke (Yard Control) One of the best ways to control Outside is by smoking off Yard near Red Container. This allows CTs to cut off vision from Ts pushing towards Secret or gaining Garage control.
- How to Throw: Stand near Garage or Mini and aim the smoke toward the Red Container.
- Why it’s Effective: It forces Ts to either push through the smoke or wait, delaying their take of Outside control.
2. Squeaky Door Smoke To stop a fast A-site rush, a Squeaky Door smoke is very effective. It blocks Ts from quickly pushing through the door and disrupts their A-site plans.
- How to Throw: From A-site, line up a smoke throw towards the Squeaky Door.
- Why it’s Effective: It slows down or entirely prevents a fast A-site execute by obscuring vision and making the Ts reconsider their plan.
3. Hut Smoke If the Ts are preparing for an A-site push from Hut, smoking it off can force them to re-evaluate their strategy or delay their timing.
- How to Throw: Stand near Heaven or Rafters and toss a smoke towards Hut.
- Why it’s Effective: It prevents Ts from rushing through Hut and allows your team to focus on other potential entry points like Squeaky or Main.
4. Ramp Smoke Smoking off Ramp early on is a common tactic to delay Ts’ B-site pushes or to fake a potential stack on A-site.
- How to Throw: Stand behind Ramp and aim the smoke towards the entrance.
- Why it’s Effective: It forces the Ts to slow down their B-push or forces them to take alternative routes through Lobby or Outside.
Mastering these smokes for both T-side and CT-side on Nuke will greatly enhance your ability to control the map and outplay your opponents. Whether you’re executing a site take as a T or defending critical areas as a CT, these smokes provide you with the tools to dominate the game. Remember, coordination and timing are key to maximizing the effectiveness of these smokes, so practice and communicate with your team to achieve success.
