The year 2023 turned out to be the most spectacular in the entire history of Counter-Strike. This includes the last major in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a sharp transition to Counter-Strike 2, millions of highlights, and the like. Since the last Tier-1 championship in 2023, BLAST Premier: World Final 2023, has already ended, it's time to look at the list of the wealthiest teams in Counter-Strike in 2023.
In this article, we will discuss who managed to earn the most prize money in Counter-Strike for 2023. It should be noted that in this article, we combined championships in CS:GO and CS2.
A total of $22,682,648 was played in Counter-Strike championships in 2023. But who managed to take the biggest piece of the pie?
#10 — Monte
In the early summer of this year, the Ukrainian organization Monte was recognized as the fastest-growing organization in the professional scene. Throughout 2023, the team managed to play in 45 championships. Of course, most of them were played online, but the players' efforts should not be underestimated.
The second half of 2023 was the most successful for the team after the release of Counter-Strike 2. The team managed to win their first LAN championship — ESL Challenger at DreamHack Winter 2023. For this victory, the team earned $50,000.
Moreover, they also participated in two championships where they were also able to earn $50,000 each:
- Roobet Cup 2023 (2nd place)
- Thunderpick World Championship 2023 (3rd-4th place)
In total, Monte earned — $433,500 in 2023.
#9 — Natus Vincere
For the Ukrainian organization Natus Vincere, 2023 was not the most pleasant year. The team switched to English communication, changed many players, and lost their main sniper, Alexander s1mple Kostylev.
However, let's forget the sad part and discuss the team's successes this year. In 2023, Natus Vincere participated in 14 championships. They finished second only once at ESL Pro League Season 18, earning the team $90,000.
Also, this year NAVI finished 3-4 place four times at various championships:
- Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023 (80,000$)
- ESL Pro League Season 17 (50,000$)
- BLAST Premier: World Final 2023 (85,000$)
- Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023 (20,000$)
In total, Natus Vincere earned — $464,000 in 2023.
#8 — MOUZ
The German organization MOUZ ranks eighth in our list of the most successful teams in Counter-Strike for the entire year of 2023. The team underwent minor changes in composition, but this did not prevent them from winning ESL Pro League Season 18, for which they received $200,000.
In total, MOUZ participated in 18 different championships throughout 2023. The team also finished second twice:
- CS Asia Championships 2023 (100,000$)
- Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2023 (42,000$)
Overall, MOUZ showed a worthy game throughout 2023. However, it will be very interesting to see what they will be like in 2024 and how they will perform in the first major for Counter-Strike 2.
In total, MOUZ earned — $586,000 in 2023.
#7 — Cloud9
The American organization Cloud9 ranks seventh in our list of the most successful teams of 2023. In total, Cloud9 participated in 24 championships, six of which they managed to win:
- RES Eastern European Masters: Spring 2023 (0$)
- BLAST Premier: Spring European Showdown 2023 (20,000$)
- Brazy Party (133,000$)
- RES Eastern European Masters: Fall 2023 (0$)
- BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023 (20,000$)
- BetBoom Playlist. Urbanistic (165,000$)
Looking at the big picture, Cloud9 had a good year, but if you remember that the organization completely bought the Gambit lineup for $1 million, it can be assumed that they have only just recouped it.
In total, Cloud9 earned — $677,000 in 2023.
#6 — Virtus.pro
In 2023, the Virtus.pro team showed a worthy level of a Tier-2 team, but they did not manage to reach Tier-1. In 2023, the bears managed to win 4 championships:
- ESL Challenger Katowice 2023 (50,000$)
- FiReLEAGUE Battle 2023 (100,000$)
- Roobet Cup 2023 (150,000$)
- CCT Online Finals #2 (100,000$)
They also took 3 second places and one 3-4 place at various championships.
In total, Virtus.pro earned — $697,000 in 2023.
#5 — ENCE
This year, the Finnish organization ENCE showed perhaps their best result. The team is gradually regaining its former glory. Throughout 2023, the ENCE team participated in 18 championships.
They managed to win only one — Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2023, for which they received $100,000. But the team also finished second three times:
- ESL Challenger Katowice 2023 (20,000$)
- Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023 (180,000$)
- Gamers8 2023 (180,000$)
As well as finishing third-fourth seven times in 2023, which brought them over $170,000 in total. There is also an interesting situation with this team, as currently, there are only 3 players left in the lineup.
In total, ENCE earned — $717,000 in 2023.
#4 — Heroic
The Danish organization Heroic in 2023 lived through the most touching journey in Counter-Strike that is possible. The team had two traitors who signed contracts with another organization behind their backs.
This almost completely broke up the team. However, the team managed to recover and has already fully restored its lineup, about which you can read more here.
Throughout 2023, the team managed to take only two first places:
- BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2023 (200,000$)
- BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023 (27,500$)
They also managed to take three second places at such championships:
- Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023
- Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023
- BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR B
It remains only to hope that without cadiaN, the team will be able to return in 2024 and achieve even greater heights.
In total, Heroic earned — $777,500 in 2023.
#3 — G2 Esports
The German organization G2 Esports, which showed incredible performance in 2023, opens the top three most successful teams of the year. Three first places, one second, and three 3-4 places, and this is just the beginning of how G2 shone this year.
Victories for the team came at the following championships:
- BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023 (27,500$)
- Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023 (400,000$)
- Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023 (400,000$)
But the team took second place at the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR Qualifier A. The total prize money from all the championships where the team took 3-4 places equals $147,500.
Like many teams, G2 was no exception and made a substitution before the first major in Counter-Strike 2. But so far it has not paid off at all. All that remains for us is to wait and cheer for our favorite teams in 2024.
In total, G2 Esports earned — $1,103,500 in 2023.
#2 — Team Vitality
The champions of the last major in CS:GO, as well as the champion of the last Tier-1 tournament in 2023, occupy the second place in our ranking of the most successful teams this year.
In 2023, Team Vitality attended 14 Counter-Strike championships and managed to reach the final in six of them! Moreover, they won five of them:
- BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023
- Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023
- BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023
- Gamers8 2023
- BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2023
There can be no dispute that Team Vitality was the best team in 2023. And they gave away the final at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2023. They received $85,000 for second place. But will ZywOo be able to become the best player of the outgoing year?
In total, Team Vitality earned — $2,024,000 in 2023.
#1 — FaZe Clan
Surprisingly, the most successful team in Counter-Strike 2, FaZe Clan, occupies the first place in our top. What can we say if they started total domination from the very first tournament on CS2.
In total, they managed to win 7 championships in 2023, as well as the Intel Grand Slam Season 4, which in turn brought the team $1,000,000.
Victories of FaZe Clan in 2023:
- BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023 (27,500$)
- ESL Pro League Season 17 (200,000$)
- BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR Decider (0$)
- BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023 (27,500$)
- Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023 (100,000$)
- Thunderpick World Championship 2023 (250,000$)
- CS Asia Championships 2023 (250,000$)
Moreover, they took two second places and one third-fourth place, which in total brought the team $355,000.
The question remains whether they will be able to create the same miracle in 2024 as in 2023?
In total, FaZe Clan earned $2,370,000 in 2023.
All Tier-1 tournaments in 2023 have already come to an end, all players and teams have already gone on New Year's holidays. The first Tier-1 championship where we will see the best teams in the world will be BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024. The tournament is scheduled to start on January 22.
