TL Spawn talks progression, international performances, and more in Reddit AMA

Team Liquid has returned home after a disappointing showing at First Stand 2025. The LTA Split 1 champions failed to make it out of the group stage, being the only team not to do so with the five-team format. The team did not live up to the expectations they set for themselves and must now take those learnings and apply them to their upcoming LTA North Split. With there being some downtime, Team Liquid hosted an AMA on Reddit with headcoach Spawn. Spawn discussed TL's international performances, the path going forward, and more.

Team Liquid did not have a good showing on the international stage, and Spawn acknowledges that. Although CFO is a solid team in their own right, with the resources put into North American League of Legends, you would expect greater results. When asked why TL has not improved since year one with Spawn, the head coach had this to say. " So my initial thoughts were we needed Yeon and APA to experience internationals to be able to play the game on a worlds level. We have that experience now. Unfortunately, you are correct, whilst we translated these learning domestically we failed at worlds and first stand."

One of the biggest criticisms of TL's players specifically came in the top lane with Impact. Many NA fans are questioning whether a change would improve the squad's performances on the international stage. Spawn said, " I can understand the sentiment on this one. Yeah, scrims look a bit different for sure, but honestly, it becomes my job to set Impact up for better success through draft. We are pretty aligned on his picks, but we have been looking at everything very closely at the moment, and where we are falling down. Hopefully we fix it and doesn't keep happening."

Looking ahead, Team Liquid needs to get back on the same page if they are to continue their dominance over the region. Spawn, however, likes to practise as if they are the chasing team, as that keeps up the mentality of being the best. "Train like you are number 2 has always been my saying," Spawn said. FlyQuest has been a team constantly fighting for that top spot, and while they didn't face them in a best of five this split, Spawn still perceives them to be the top dogs. " Until we beat Fly in a bo5 we cannot really claim we are the best."

Spawn will hopefully get that opportunity to beat FlyQuest as Team Liquid gears up for the return of the LTA North in April.
