Avowed boasts a variety of interesting companions, each with their own distinct skills and strengths that are useful in battle. Even though there's a limit of two companions per party, the right selection can enhance your gameplay in extreme ways.

Garryck and Ilora do not appear in this tier list for a good reason. Both are only beginner companions that accompany the player in a single mission, and therefore do not master the game.

S-Tier Companion

Giatta

Giatta ranks as the top aide in Avowed ever since she began her position for her remarkable support skills. With her specially assigned role as a healer, she makes sure that the rest of the team performs well during the fight. Giatta effortlessly unlocks a variety of healing techniques with her "Purification" and "Reconstruction" skills which enables her to be useful to nearly every playstyle. The approach to the game does not matter as Giatta will be a key companion to ensure victory, whether Giatta decides to go aggressive or defensive.

A-Tier Companion

Kai

Kai is a dependable tank and one of the first companions you get in Avowed. His ability to aggro enemies with 'Leap of Daring' makes him a great frontline fighter. Furthermore, his passive skill 'Second Wind' enables him to self revive during combat which makes him even more durable. If you are looking for a sturdy and trustworthy companion, Kai is a great option.

B-Tier Companion (Potentially A-Tier in Some Situations)

Yatzli

Yatzli is a ranged magic user specializing in area-of-effect damage and minor crowd control. Her "Arduous Delay of Motion" ability slows down enemies, which can be useful in certain combat situations. However, her late-game recruitment means that by the time she joins, your character is already a powerful damage dealer, making her impact less crucial. In specific builds, she might be worth an A-Tier placement, but generally, she lands in B-Tier.

C-Tier Companion

Marius

Marius is a utility-based companion with some crowd control and damage-over-time abilities. His "Binding Roots" skill can immobilize enemies, and "Wounding Shots" provides decent single-target damage. However, compared to the other companions, his overall impact on combat is lower, making him the least effective choice for most team compositions.

When forming your ideal party, Giatta should almost always be included due to her healing abilities, while Kai serves as a dependable tank.
