Vitality had the most dominant season in Counter-Strike

Team Vitality’s 2025 season stands as the most dominant in the game’s history. Winning seven out of eight tournaments, including the BLAST.tv Austin Major and ESL Grand Slam Season 5, they crushed all competition. With 34 straight best-of-three (Bo3) or best-of-five (Bo5) series wins, only dropping two matches, Vitality proved untouchable.

Vitality’s 2025 rampage

Vitality’s 2025 season was a masterclass. They competed in eight tournaments and won seven, a feat unmatched in CS history. Their titles were:

  • IEM Katowice 2025
  • ESL Pro League Season 21
  • BLAST Open Spring 2025
  • IEM Melbourne 2025
  • BLAST Rivals Spring 2025
  • IEM Dallas 2025
  • BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025

Their only non-victory was a quarterfinal exit at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, losing a Bo3 to Eternal Fire at the first event for this roster. Vitality’s 34-series win streak in Bo3/Bo5 matches is staggering. Since Robin “ropz” Kool joined, replacing Lotan "Spinx" Giladi, the team soared. Led by captain Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, with Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut’s AWP, ropz’s rifling, Shahar "flameZ" Shushan’s aggression, and William "mezii" Merriman’s support, Vitality blended individual brilliance with flawless teamwork.

Comparing Historic Seasons

To understand Vitality’s greatness, let’s compare them to the best seasons in CS history: Astralis 2018, Liquid 2019, NAVI 2021, and FaZe 2022.

Astralis 2018

Astralis were the top team in 2018. They won four big tournaments that year, including the FACEIT Major in London and IEM Chicago. They also took home the Intel Grand Slam Season 1 and finished second at DreamHack Masters Stockholm.

Their run was impressive and changed how the game was played. But they won only four titles, while Vitality already has seven in 2025. Also, the teams Astralis beat back then weren’t as strong or consistent as the ones Vitality faces now.

Liquid 2019

Liquid had a crazy summer in 2019. They won five top events in a row, like IEM Sydney, ESL One Cologne, and DreamHack Masters Dallas. They also won the Intel Grand Slam Season 2 in record time. No team could stop them during those months, not even Vitality or G2 at the time.

But Liquid never won a Major. They lost to ENCE at IEM Katowice. Their hot streak only lasted a few months, and they dropped off after the summer. They won 23 series in a row, which is great – but Vitality now has 34, and they’ve kept winning all year.

NAVI 2021

NAVI were amazing in 2021. They won four big events, including the PGL Major Stockholm, where they didn’t lose a single map. They also won ESL Pro League S14, the BLAST Fall Finals, and the BLAST World Final. Like Vitality, they also grabbed the Intel Grand Slam that year.

NAVI’s Major win was special and clean, something Vitality hasn’t done yet. But they finished the year with four titles – still less than Vitality’s seven so far in 2025.

FaZe 2022

FaZe’s 2022 saw them win four S-tier events: IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League Season 15, PGL Major Antwerp, and IEM Cologne with the second place at Roobet Cup. Their Major and Grand Slam run was strong, but not that dominant.

Challenges and legacy

Vitality’s dominance wasn’t flawless – they lost a Bo3 to Eternal Fire and a Bo1 to Legacy, showing some vulnerability. Their Austin Major win, against a stacked field including NAVI, MOUZ, and The MongolZ, cements their legacy. The ESL Grand Slam, earned through IEM Cologne 2024, Katowice, Pro League, and Melbourne, puts them among immortals like Astralis and NAVI. If they maintain this form, 2025 could see them chase more records, like two Grand Slams in one year.

Conclusion

Vitality’s 2025 season, with seven titles, a 34-series streak, and wins at Austin Major and ESL Grand Slam, is the most dominant in Counter-Strike history. No team – not Liquid in 2019, nor NAVI in 2021 – matches their consistency, volume, or strength against top rivals. Ropz’s addition unlocked a roster to the maximum potential. As the undisputed best team, Vitality’s legacy is secure. If they keep this pace, they could redefine CS dominance for years. For now, 2025 is the year Vitality ruled like no one else.
