EA and Respawn Entertainment have confirmed that "Apex Legends" will not receive a sequel anytime soon. Instead, the studio has decided to focus on improving the existing game to support and expand its player community. 

Despite recent challenges, such as the controversial change in the battle pass and fluctuating player reactions, EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated during the latest financial conference that the company is committed to supporting the original battle royale format through continuous updates and new content. This strategic choice by EA differs from other game services that have released sequels like "Overwatch 2."

Wilson emphasized that sequels in the game-services genre often fail to replicate the success of their predecessors. "And so actually, the objective right now is to ensure that we are continuing to support the global playerbase that we have, and deliver them new, innovative, creative content on a season-by-season basis...”, he explained, stressing that Respawn's approach is to avoid forcing players to choose between current and future game investments.

In the last two years, EA and Respawn have repeatedly considered creating a standalone game in the Apex Legends or Titanfall universe, but these plans did not develop further. Instead, Wilson emphasized a "10-15-year plan" for Apex Legends, focused on improving the game without the need for a complete overhaul.

Major updates throughout the past year reflect Respawn's commitment to updating the current game. New features, such as enemy health indicators and the Legend improvement system, have already made a significant impact, and the game is expected to continue to evolve over time.

Our objective will be to continue to innovate in the core [gameplay] experience, and then build additional opportunities for engagement in different modalities of play beyond what the current core mechanic delivers. And we think we can do those two things together, and we don't believe we have to separate the experience in order to do so.
