The full list of maps has been published.
Dataminers have published the full list of maps that will be on the Source 2 release.
Dataminers GabeFollower, Aquarius, and ALE have been following the activity of CS:GO developers for a long time and have compiled a list of maps ready for the new engine. Currently ready:
- Overpass
- Shortdust
- Lake
- Inferno
- Shoots
- Italy
- Cobblestone
Why are there so few maps?
Since the Source 2 update is so close to release, most maps are already destined to be ready, but there are only seven names on the list. This may disappoint many users, but don't despair.
First, these 7 locations are the minimum required to test all game modes. Overpass, Inferno, and Cobblestone suit classic modes with a bomb and Deathmatch. Lake and Shoots are designed for smaller modes like the arms race. Italy is needed for hostage-taking modes, and Shortdust is suitable for Wingman.
Thus, Valve can already start testing the new version of CS because there is enough content for this.
The list of maps may be incomplete
Dataminers could not track all the activities of developers in the CS test branch, so the published list of maps may be incomplete. However, in September 2022, the developers closed the vulnerability, which made monitoring their activity possible. As a result, the last data received by dataminers dates back to September 2022.
This means that we have yet to learn about the activity of the developers, which they have been engaged in for the last five months, and in just four months, they were able to port seven maps to Source 2. What could prevent them from working on the same number of locations in recent months? Most likely, the list is indeed incomplete.
How many maps will there be in the test version of CS:GO on Source 2? We will find out in the coming days.
