Counter-Strike 2 is a brand-new game, but just like with CS:GO, the hardware requirements for your PC remain high. The low FPS figures, which fans of the shooter constantly encounter, hinder enjoyment of the gaming process. In this material, we've gathered advice on CS2 settings that will help extract the maximum FPS from your PC and make the game more comfortable.
A shooter fan nicknamed ThourCS managed to create custom video settings in which model and texture detail is set to "High", particle detail to "Medium", HDR to "Very High", and overall shadow quality to "Medium".
FPS figures with different settings:
- Low: 258 FPS
- Custom: 247 FPS (-4%) — our choice
- Medium: 245 FPS (-5%)
- High: 169 FPS (-34%)
- Very High: 146 FPS (-43%)
How do the custom settings exceed the average ones? For some reason, the 1% and 0.1% FPS on custom settings were much better compared to the average settings, leading to a better overall FPS figure. The most FPS in the video settings for the tested PC are consumed by MSAA and Ambient Occlusion.
Specifications of the PC used for testing:
- CPU: i5-12400F
- GPU: 1600TI
- RAM: 16GB DDR4
- SSD: 512MB

CS2 is constantly updated and becomes increasingly demanding on computer resources. The aforementioned recommendations may vary for different PCs. Yes, the developers are working on optimizing the shooter, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to play it on a calculator. If you managed to temporarily boost FPS and enjoy the game, it is most likely not going to last. In the end, the FPS figure will decrease again and it will be hard to cope without a new computer.
