RRQ players and staff reflect on comeback win and Paris atmosphere

After securing a crucial victory and advancing further at VALORANT Champions 2025, Rex Regum Qeon players and coaches sat down for a press conference in Paris. They spoke about fan support, struggles on Sunset, individual highlights, and the strength of their region.

RRQ’s performance drew attention not only for the result, but also for the personality and energy shown on stage. The following are the key takeaways from the press conference, presented in chronological order.

A lucky mascot on stage

Asked about the small stork he brought out before the match, Monyet explained the story behind it.

It’s a gift from our super fan from France, Max. He’s been supporting us since 2023, even before I joined. We promised to bring it on stage, and it was really nice to finally meet him in person.

Sunset struggles and adjustments

Head coach Ewok addressed the tough start on Sunset, a map usually considered RRQ’s strength.

Recently, Sunset has been more of a defensive issue. Today it was the attack side, with some crucial rounds not going our way. After the first map, everyone reset, remembered who we are, and showed our strength.

Jemkin’s impact on the decider

On the final map, Jemkin delivered one of his strongest performances of the tournament.

Everyone on the team felt comfortable, me as well, especially after the second map. It feels good to have a strong performance, but this is a team game. Everyone did their job.

Playing in front of a Paris crowd

When asked about handling the live audience, Monyet compared the experience with previous stages.

We’re already used to loud arenas. The Japanese crowd at the Pacific Final was even crazier. Here everything is clear and close to the viewers, but it actually helps us.”

Confidence and regional strength

Looking ahead, players also shared thoughts on facing MIBR and the Pacific region’s chances at Champions.

We feel very confident. We’ve studied MIBR a lot, so it’s nothing new for us. As for Pacific, I don’t know if we’ll win Champs because EMEA looks really strong with teams like Heretics and Fnatic. But we’re improving as the tournament goes on, and we’ll see how far we can go.
