EDward Gaming has become the second confirmed participant in the VALORANT Champions 2026 and the first team from China to secure a spot in the World Championship in Shanghai. EDG secured their ticket after defeating JD Gaming in the second week of the group stage of VCT 2026: China Stage 2. The result allowed the team to accumulate enough Championship Points and secure an early spot in the season's main tournament.
The match against JD Gaming ended with a score of 2:0. EDward Gaming claimed their own map choice, Breeze, with a score of 13:10, and then won the opponent's choice, Haven, 13:7. The best player of the series in terms of ACS was Zheng "ZmjjKK" Yongkang, who finished the two maps with an ACS of 280 and a stat line of 44/34/6.
Following the victory, EDward Gaming maintained the first place in the Chinese Championship Points table with 19 points. Xi Lai Gaming is in second place with 17 points, and All Gamers holds the third spot with 11. EDG's current lead is already sufficient for guaranteed qualification, regardless of further results in Stage 2.
VALORANT Champions 2026 will take place in Shanghai from September 24 to October 18. The tournament will feature 16 teams: two finalists from Stage 2 from each region and two additional teams with the highest Championship Points. Prior to EDward Gaming, the only team to have secured a spot in the World Championship was Paper Rex.
