xertioN After BLAST Open Porto Final Loss: "Spirit Are the Best Team in the World Right Now"

MOUZ pushed Spirit to a 3-1 grand final at BLAST Open Fall before falling short, and xertioN sat down with the broadcast to reflect on what went wrong and where this lineup goes from here. He was measured, honest, and clear about one thing: Spirit deserved to win.

What Went Wrong in the Final

xertioN didn't hide from the specifics even fresh off the loss. "On T-side on Dust2, we kind of choked some important rounds that we had," he said.

Overall in the game, on all the maps, we were just a bit mentally checked out for a bit too long, and we let them run over us in so many moments.

He was careful to note the series needs a rewatch before drawing harder conclusions, but the honest read was that MOUZ showed up below their best on the day that mattered most.

Giving Spirit Their Credit

Asked directly about the gap between the two teams at this stage of their development, xertioN didn't reach for excuses.

I think today Spirit were just a better team. They showed up better. They are the best team in the world, in my opinion, at the moment.

It's the kind of admission that's easy to say and hard to mean, but the context around it suggested he meant it. MOUZ reversed the BLAST Bounty result from their earlier meeting, but Spirit reversed it right back when the stakes were highest.

The IGL Role Is Becoming Natural

One of the more interesting threads of the interview was xertioN's confidence since taking on captaincy.

I'm just trying to lead by example. I wouldn't say it's like new or forced. It's just that I'm getting more comfortable doing it.

He described himself as not naturally the biggest character in the room but credited the role with pulling out a more visible version of himself on stage. The process of becoming the face of the team is clearly still ongoing, and he seems at peace with that.

The loss hurts but the final is something to build on. For a lineup in its first major event cycle together, a Porto final and a Bounty title in consecutive events is a foundation, not a ceiling.
