Valve Employee Robin Walker's Steam Account Shows a VAC Ban

Robin Walker, a Valve employee has a VAC ban on his Steam account, issued zero days ago. The ban is visible on his public profile, which carries the Valve Employee badge.

Walker is one of Valve's most recognizable names internally, known for his long history with the company including work on Team Fortress. His profile explicitly warns visitors against Discord scammers impersonating him, noting that no Valve or Steam Support employee will ever contact users through external chat services.

The circumstances behind the ban are unknown. VAC bans are issued automatically by Valve's anti-cheat system, and a false positive on a Valve employee's account would be an embarrassing but not unprecedented outcome. The alternative reading, that someone at Valve cheated on their own game, is the kind of thing that travels fast for obvious reasons. Whether this is a test, an error, or something else entirely, Valve hasn't commented. Given that Walker works at the company that built VAC, someone there will presumably have an answer very soon.
