Anubis Creator Proposes Major Balance Changes to CS2 Map
12:03, 14.01.2026

The original creator of the de_anubis map, known as RoaldNL, has once again proposed radical balance changes for the map in CS2. His ideas could dramatically affect the pro-scene meta, where Anubis has long suffered from a clear advantage for the Terrorist side.
Background
RoaldNL, known as Roald, developed de_anubis for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive together with jakuza and jd40. The map quickly gained popularity and entered the active CS2 map pool, but over time balance problems emerged — the T-side advantage hit its peak in professional matches as well as among regular players.

Core proposals
In a recent tweet, RoaldNL laid out his adjustments in detail: to move the T and CT spawns to even out timings on key positions, and to add a corner on the A-plant to help CTs during retakes. In addition, he suggests building a wall on the B-plant to force attackers to use more smokes, while at the exit from Museum, on the contrary, he proposes shortening the wall.
In November 2022, Valve bought the rights to the map for $150,000, leaving the original author without influence over future updates. However, RoaldNL’s opinion still carries a lot of weight, and his proposals highlight the need for timely balancing so that Anubis does not drop out of the rotation and continues to hold the interest of pro players and viewers alike.
