Rumor: StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 Moved from Finland to Barcelona

The organizer StarLadder is rumored to be changing plans for the StarSeries Fall 2026: the tournament will no longer take place in the Finnish city of Vaasa. The reason cited is unsuccessful negotiations between the tournament operator and local authorities regarding the event's conditions.

Initially, the LAN tournament with a prize pool of $500,000 was scheduled to be held at the Vaasan Sähkö Areena from September 17 to 20, featuring eight teams. However, according to is.fi, the parties were unable to agree on the details of the partnership and financial support from the city.

Negotiations in Vaasa End Without Agreement

According to the Finnish publication Ilta-Sanomat, the lack of full partnership from the city of Vaasa was a key factor. Although the city's financial contribution would not have been significant, it was important for StarLadder to have official support as part of organizing a major LAN event.

The city's mayor confirmed the negotiations but declined to comment on their details or the final outcome. The discussions continued until the end of May but concluded without reaching an agreement.

StarSeries Fall 2026 Moves to Barcelona

After the breakdown of agreements in Finland, StarLadder decided to relocate the tournament to Spain. Instead of a large arena in Vaasa, the event will be held in Barcelona in a studio format.

According to available information, the tournament will take place under significantly more modest conditions—without a large arena and live audience. However, Barcelona is already used by StarLadder for hosting the Stake Ranked series, making the city a familiar base for the organizer.

Tournament Format and Season Context

StarSeries Fall 2026 will gather 8 teams:

  • 4 invites through Valve VRS rankings
  • 4 teams from qualifiers

The prize pool remains at $500,000.

The tournament fits well into the CS2 season calendar, as it does not overlap with other major events. Upcoming events include FISSURE Playground 5 and ESL Pro League Season 24, ensuring a strong lineup of participants in Barcelona.

The relocation of StarSeries Fall 2026 from Finland to Spain resulted from unsuccessful negotiations between StarLadder and the city of Vaasa. Despite losing the arena, the tournament maintains its status as a major LAN event, though it will now take place in a studio format in Barcelona.
