Valve has announced the cities that will host two Major tournaments for Counter-Strike in 2027. For the first time in history, the main tournament of the season will take place in Argentina, followed by a return to China later that year, this time in Shanghai.
Historic Major in South America
The first Major of 2027 will be organized by FiReSPORTS in Buenos Aires, marking the first Valve tournament of this level in Argentina's history. The information was confirmed by the organization's founder and CEO, Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes.
The tournament will run from May 31 to June 20, 2027, marking the return of Majors to South America for the first time since the IEM Rio Major 2022. It will also be the debut Major for FiReSPORTS as a tournament operator of this scale.
Shanghai to Host the Second Major of the Year
The second Major of 2027 will be hosted by Perfect World, the publisher of Counter-Strike in China. The tournament will take place in Shanghai from November 22 to December 12.
Although Perfect World has not officially commented on the information, several sources familiar with Valve's decision have confirmed to HLTV that this organization will be granted the rights to host the second Major.

Global Major Calendar Already Set
The 2027 Majors will continue the series of major tournaments following:
- IEM Cologne Major 2026
- PGL Major Singapore, which will be the first Major in Southeast Asia's history
Additionally, according to HLTV, Valve has already determined the organizers for the 2028 Majors, with ESL and BLAST securing the rights to host the tournaments.
Why It Matters
The selection of Buenos Aires and Shanghai confirms Valve's strategic direction towards the globalization of CS2 and the development of the scene beyond traditional European locations. The return of Majors to South America and the strengthening of China's position highlight the growing audience and influence of Counter-Strike worldwide.
The year 2027 promises to be one of the most geographically diverse in the history of Majors.
