Monte's coach Alexander "kakafu" Szymanczyk is on the thinnest of ice at the Cologne Major. ESL issued him a final warning for showing too much emotion on the sideline, and one more infraction sends him home.

kakafu made his situation public on X, stating that ESL gave him a final warning and confirmed Valve is directly pressuring tournament organizers to enforce the rule strictly at Majors. It's not a new regulation, but the enforcement at Cologne is clearly tighter than what coaches have gotten away with at previous events.

kakafu Has a Point

The Austrian coach didn't hold back his frustration, and the comparison he drew was sharp: he said he'd prefer the VALORANT model, where the coach sits in a separate room with a PC rather than having to perform emotional numbness two feet behind five players in the middle of a high-stakes match. It's a fair argument. Counter-Strike sideline culture has always been expressive. Stripping that out at the biggest event of the year feels clinical in the worst way.

With Monte still alive in Stage 2, kakafu now has to coach one of the tournament's grittiest squads while essentially sitting on his hands.
