HeavyGod: "I always knew what NertZ was capable of"

G2 are through to the PGL Astana playoffs after a dominant win over Monte, and HeavyGod sat down to talk about the NertZ integration, huNter-'s growth as IGL, and what the team is actually building toward.

A Win Is a Win

The group stage run wasn't spotless, but HeavyGod wasn't losing sleep over it.

A win is a win, a qualify is a qualify. Our focus is just to improve, get a good connection with each other, and develop more as a team.

With limited practice time and NertZ only recently integrated, the expectations internally are about learning, not perfection. "It can never be perfect and it will never be, so you just learn and try to fix the maximum that you can."

The NertZ Effect

The reunion between HeavyGod and NertZ, former Endpoint teammates, has been everything HeavyGod expected. "He's really aggressive, sometimes maybe he's crazy, and he has a lot of ideas and a big voice." He also pushed back on the Liquid narrative around NertZ.

In Liquid, he maybe wasn't the best, but I knew what he was capable of and I always told him that. I'm happy to have him by my side.

Off the server, NertZ has slotted straight into a team culture built on trolling and keeping the mood up, which HeavyGod described as equally important.

huNter- Is Growing Into the IGL Role

Asked about huNter-'s development as the team's caller, HeavyGod was measured but positive.

Obviously, it's taking time to be an IGL like the big ones, but he's doing a good job. He knows how to help everyone in the server and off the server, and also how to adapt with the calls and the plays that people want to do.

The process is ongoing, and HeavyGod framed it honestly: Rome wasn't built in a day.

The Arena and What Comes Next

With the playoffs in Kazakhstan ahead and teams like Falcons and Spirit waiting, HeavyGod kept the focus deliberately narrow. "We'll just take it one game at a time. We just want to grind it and do our best." How far G2 are from winning titles is a question he couldn't answer, and he said so directly. The goal is to build consistently rather than peak fast and drop. Whether the arena in Astana is where that consistency starts to show up is the question the next few days will answer.
