FURIA upset NiP, stay alive at EPL S14

Ninjas in Pyjamas, fresh off their two straight victories, faced off against FURIA Esports, who despite fielding “guerri”, looked competitive in all of their games besides the showdown against Gambit Esports.

Starting on the Brazilian team’s pick of Nuke, NiP looked in control, as they switched to the offence with a three round lead. Ninjas in Pyjamas managed to extend their advantage to six rounds, as they led “13-7”, but a massive comeback by FURIA Esports on their defence gave them nine straight points and a “16-13” victory. Ancient, the Scandinavian mix’s choice, went down the wire as well, despite FURIA having an “11-4” half to open the score. NiP did not tap out and snowballed the pistol round win into a “12-11” lead and despite the Brazilian team retaking the lead at “14-12”, forced the decider map with a “16-14”. Mirage turned out to be a less exciting affair, as FURIA Esports went “4-0” in clutch rounds, giving themselves another “11-4” lead at the break, but this time, despite a furious rally by NiP, finished the job with a “16-9” for a “2-1” series win.

In the last round FURIA Esports will face off against Team Liquid, while Ninjas in Pyjamas are going to try and recover against Gambit Esports, as only one of these two is going to join Gambit and Liquid in the ESL Pro League Season 14 playoffs.
