frozen: “Some of the wins we got are way more convincing than they used to be”

FaZe Clan player David "frozen" Čerňanský shared his thoughts on Finn "karrigan" Andersen leaving the team for Team Falcons following FaZe’s elimination from Intel Extreme Masters Atlanta 2026. Speaking to HLTV after the event, frozen admitted that FaZe’s poor results over the last months made the move understandable, saying almost anyone in that situation would have considered joining Falcons.

“The old FaZe is gone”

According to frozen, FaZe are no longer the same team structurally after karrigan’s departure. The Slovak rifler described the current roster as a completely new version of the organization.

The old FaZe, and the whole structure that we used to have, is gone. It’s a different generation of FaZe.

The team is currently playing under Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken as in-game leader, while Niclas "enkay J" Krumhorn has taken over coaching duties.

frozen explains karrigan’s decision

One of the biggest talking points from the interview was frozen’s reaction to karrigan joining Falcons. Instead of criticizing the move, he openly admitted that FaZe’s results played a major role.

With the results that we were showing, honestly, I feel like anyone who got a Falcons offer would have left at that point.

Despite the roster change, frozen said he still wishes the legendary Danish captain the best moving forward.

I wish karrigan the very best.

FaZe eliminated from IEM Atlanta 2026

At Intel Extreme Masters Atlanta 2026, FaZe started their campaign with a disappointing loss against paiN Gaming before recovering against NRG in the lower bracket.

Their run eventually ended against Team Vitality, who defeated FaZe 2-0 to knock them out of the tournament.

Even though FaZe were eliminated, frozen believes the team is still improving.

Some of the wins we got are way more convincing than they used to be.

At the same time, he admitted the team still struggles with small mistakes in crucial rounds against elite opponents.

FaZe believed Vitality were beatable

Frozen also revealed that FaZe were actually excited to face Vitality despite the French side being tournament favorites.

They’ve been on a really long winning streak, so there has to be a time where they become beatable.

He even stated that FaZe were the better team on the opening map of the series, but mistakes in key moments allowed Vitality to punish them.

What’s next for FaZe

Following their exit from IEM Atlanta, FaZe will now shift their focus toward the upcoming Stake event. Frozen explained that the team plans to review both their Atlanta matches and previous BLAST Rivals games in order to fix weaknesses and continue adapting to the new structure.

Frozen’s interview offered one of the clearest looks yet into FaZe’s current rebuilding phase after the end of the karrigan era. The team is going through major structural changes, and even frozen admitted that the organization’s recent struggles made Falcons an attractive destination for almost anyone.

Despite the disappointing result at Intel Extreme Masters Atlanta 2026, FaZe still believe they are moving in the right direction with their new system and leadership.
