Animgraph 2 officially launches in Counter-Strike 2

Animgraph 2 is now officially live in Counter-Strike 2 after a period of testing. Valve released the update overnight from April 20 to 21, and alongside updated animations, several other issues were fixed.

Animgraph 2, which was previously in beta, has been deployed to the live version of the game as of April 21, making character animations smoother and improving third-person visuals. In addition to visual improvements, the transition to Animgraph 2 resolves several critical issues. Firstly, hitbox synchronization with character models has been significantly improved, making hit registration more accurate. Secondly, the updated system reduces CPU load, resulting in more stable FPS.

Full list of changes in the new CS2 update:

  • All changes from the animgraph_2_beta build have been added to the main game
  • Minor viewmodel animation adjustments
  • Updated weapon draw animation logic
  • Fixed issues with knife attack transitions
  • Fixed a bug where Dual Berettas would not fire in third person
  • Fixed a bug that allowed silent ladder climbing at running speed by spamming movement keys
  • Improved movement smoothing when transitioning between inclined and flat surfaces
  • Fixed grenade scaling after dropping and picking them up
  • Fixed a crash during halftime when switching sides from CT to T

Although players expected more changes beyond Animgraph 2 — such as updates to the Armory Pass and the addition of the Cache map — this update could still significantly improve the overall CS2 gameplay experience. However, its real impact will become clear after players test it in actual matches.
