The full version of Onimusha Way of the Sword offers a higher difficulty level than the recently released demo that went live last week before the full launch arrives on September 25. The Capcom development team confirmed that they intentionally tuned the demo to feel much easier so players test the core combat systems without facing full game pressure.

Demo feedback and producer response
The demo of Onimusha: Way of the Sword released last week, giving players an early look at the game before launch. Some fans of the series said the experience felt easier than expected. They pointed out that previous entries in the series are usually considered moderately challenging.
Producer Akihito Kadowaki addressed the feedback in a video message shared on the official Onimusha account on X. He said the demo does not represent the difficulty of the final game and was designed with specific limitations.
“Thank you so much for playing the demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword,” Kadowaki said in the video. “We’ve heard the feedback that the demo felt too easy for some people. First, the demo is just a slice of the early part of the story. Also, we really wanted you to enjoy a variety of Musashi’s actions, so we intentionally equipped him with some late-game skills. Because of that, some players might have felt a lack of challenge. Rest assured, in the final game, the bosses and the regular Genma will put up a tougher fight. Please look forward to the challenge in the full game.”Akihito Kadowaki on X
He explained that the demo intentionally gives the protagonist more power than he would normally have at that stage of the story. This allowed players to try a wider range of combat options. He also confirmed that the final version will increase enemy pressure, especially during boss fights and standard encounters.

Onimusha is a long running franchise from Capcom focused on samurai combat and supernatural enemies. The series became popular in the early 2000s on consoles. Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks a new main entry after a long break. The game aims to modernize combat while keeping the series identity intact.
