Director and co writer Peter Berg confirmed the Modern Warfare movie setting during the Call of Duty in Culture panel at Fanatics Fest in New York City. The announcement reaffirms the adaptation focuses on the modern military environment that defined the franchise. Activision keeps the specific story details and the main cast and the returning game characters completely secret. Activision announced the project earlier this year to deliver elements fans love about the series while expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.
Modern Warfare Returns Across Games And Film
The movie arrives exactly as Activision prepares another major release in the same game universe. Developers scheduled Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to launch in October and continue the established storyline from previous game entries.
Modern Warfare 4 represents the first Call of Duty title arriving on a Nintendo console in over ten years since developers released Ghosts for the Wii U. Activision confirmed the new game completely ignores ridiculous character outfits while introducing the Kill Block multiplayer mode containing more than five hundred unique map configurations.
The original franchise launched in 2003 and rapidly became one of the top selling video game properties in history. Developers created the first Modern Warfare title in 2007 to introduce famous characters including Captain Price and Task Force 141 and establish the most recognized storyline across the entire franchise.
