Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access Announced

Players who preorder Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 digitally gain access to the campaign on October 16 to play one week before the full release on October 23 2026. Activision confirmed the early access program alongside new story details that include the return of Captain Price and a conflict centered directly on the Korean Peninsula.

Campaign Early Access Begins On October 16

Activision announced the Modern Warfare 4 campaign becomes available through early access on October 16 for players who preorder either the Standard Digital Edition or the Vault Edition to start the story mode before the global launch. The offer applies directly to purchases on Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 alongside PC via Battle net and Steam as well as the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. 

Activision also confirmed preorder availability for the Nintendo Switch 2 version opens later in 2026. Campaign early access automatically comes included with eligible digital preorders just like previous Call of Duty releases and requires absolutely no additional purchases.

Modern Warfare 4 Returns To Series Roots

Activision describes the Modern Warfare 4 story as a clear return to franchise roots because the campaign follows Private Park as a young South Korean soldier experiencing combat for the first time during a routine military operation. 

The situation quickly escalates when North Korea launches a massive invasion to pull players into a wider conflict while Captain Price returns as an outlaw operator pursuing revenge and searching for a powerful weapon. Developers stated his aggressive actions unintentionally contribute directly to a much larger global war.

Large Battles And Covert Operations

The campaign features a complete mix of massive warfare and stealth missions alongside armored combat and cinematic action sequences. Activision stated the game focuses heavily on grounded combat while offering various mission types across a deep conflict extending well beyond the traditional front lines. 

The publisher still needs to reveal the full mission list and campaign length alongside additional story characters before providing more information about Modern Warfare 4 in the coming months.

Campaign early access serves as a regular preorder bonus for recent Call of Duty titles because both Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III allowed players to complete the entire story mode before multiplayer servers went live. Modern Warfare 4 officially launches on October 23 2026 to mark the next major entry in the popular Modern Warfare series.
