Rush is Mega Man's robotic dog and a Sidekick cosmetic in Fortnite. The companion costs 1,500 V-Bucks in the Item Shop and is also included in the Mega Man Bundle. Rush originally debuted as Mega Man's robot dog in Mega Man 3 and has remained one of the character's most recognizable companions.
What the Rush Sidekick Is
Rush is a cosmetic companion that follows your character during supported Fortnite experiences. He can react to what happens around you, but he does not detect enemies or items and does not provide a combat advantage. Epic lists Rush as part of the Mega Man set and confirms that the Sidekick has unlockable styles and built-in features.
The important detail is that Rush is a licensed character Sidekick, so his appearance works differently from customizable Fortnite Sidekicks.
How to Get Rush Sidekick in Fortnite

If you want to know how to get Rush Sidekick in Fortnite, the main method is to purchase him from the Item Shop.
- Open the Item Shop in Fortnite.
- Find the Mega Man section.
- Select Rush (Mega Man), or choose the Mega Man Bundle if you want the complete set.
- Hold the purchase button to confirm the transaction.
- After the purchase is completed, Rush is added to your Locker and can be equipped from the Sidekicks section.
The standalone Rush offer costs 1,500 V-Bucks. Epic's current Item Shop listing also confirms that Rush is part of the Mega Man Bundle.

Rush Sidekick Price: Solo Purchase vs Mega Man Bundle
The Rush Sidekick Fortnite price is 1,500 V-Bucks when purchased separately.
The alternative is the Fortnite Mega Man Bundle, which costs 3,800 V-Bucks. Epic lists the original combined value of the bundle's contents as 7,300 V-Bucks, meaning the bundle is discounted by 3,500 V-Bucks compared with buying everything separately.
The Mega Man Bundle contains:
- Mega Man (Dual Override)
- Mega Man X
- Zero (Mega Man)
- Buster Cannon Fire Sword
- Buster Cannon Blades
- Z-Saber
- E-Tank Power Pack
- Z-Saber Back Bling
- Rush (Mega Man)
- Mega Buster Flex
The choice is therefore simple. Buy Rush alone if Rush is the only item you want. Spending 1,500 V-Bucks is much cheaper than paying 3,800 V-Bucks for cosmetics you may not use.
The Fortnite Mega Man Bundle makes sense if you already planned to buy several of the three outfits, pickaxes, back blings and the emote. The discount becomes valuable because the individual prices add up to 7,300 V-Bucks.
Can You Get Rush for Free?
No, Rush cannot currently be unlocked for free.
The confusion comes from the Override Series: Mega Man Cup, which offered free Mega Man-related rewards through competitive play. The tournament included a free route to the Mega Man Outfit for players who reached the required regional placement, while the Mega Buster objective could award the Override Buster Blast Spray. Rush was not listed as a free Cup reward.
This is an important distinction: tournament rewards and Item Shop cosmetics are separate. Earning Mega Man or another Cup reward does not give you Rush automatically.
Why You Can't Customize Rush's Appearance
Most Fortnite Sidekicks have a one-time appearance customization system. After choosing their appearance, players must hold LOCK-IN, and the selection becomes permanent. Epic's support documentation confirms that this customization system applies only to Sidekicks that support customization.
That means you do not get the normal appearance-selection screen when obtaining Rush. His base appearance is fixed rather than being something you build through the Sidekick customization menu.
Rush does, however, have unlockable styles and built-in features listed on his Item Shop page. Current information also shows that his Sidekick content includes different presentation styles, including his cel-shaded and 3D looks, as well as his unique reactions and built-in interaction features.

This is why Rush should not be treated like a normal customizable Sidekick such as Kit. With a standard customizable Sidekick, the appearance is selected once and locked permanently; with Rush, Epic has fixed the character's appearance and provides his own built-in style options instead.

Rush Sidekick Quests and Unlockable Rewards
The Rush Sidekick Fortnite quests are tied directly to the companion. Epic's Item Shop listing confirms that Rush includes quests which unlock additional items when completed.
To find them:
- Open the Quests tab.
- Scroll down to the Sidekicks section.
- Select Rush.
- Equip Rush and play supported matches to work toward the Sidekick quest progression.
Sidekick progression uses Sidekick Points, which are earned by playing matches with the relevant Sidekick equipped in supported experiences. The exact progression and available rewards can change as Epic updates Sidekick content.
For Rush specifically, Epic confirms the existence of the quest reward track, but the complete list of individual Rush quest rewards is not currently exposed on the official public Item Shop page. Because of that, it is safer not to attribute unconfirmed cosmetic names to specific Sidekick Point milestones.
The important part is that you do not need to buy another copy of Rush to access his quest progression. Once Rush is in your Locker, his associated quest content can be accessed through the Sidekicks section.
Where Rush Works and When It Leaves the Shop
Rush is designed to work across Fortnite experiences that support Sidekicks. This includes Battle Royale, Zero Build, LEGO Fortnite, Save the World, Fortnite Festival and supported UEFN islands, although visibility and functionality can vary between experiences.
Epic explains that Sidekicks react to the world around them but do not detect enemies or items. In Battle Royale, you can see your team's Sidekicks, while visibility can differ in other Fortnite experiences.
Rush also does not give you a gameplay advantage. He is a companion cosmetic rather than a combat character, so purchasing him does not provide extra damage, enemy detection or another gameplay bonus.
As for the shop rotation, Epic's current Rush listing displays September 20, 2026, at 12:00 AM local time as the current purchase deadline. The same date is shown on the Mega Man Bundle listing.
This should be treated as the current Item Shop listing rather than a permanent guarantee. Fortnite Shop availability can change with future rotations, so players who specifically want Rush should not assume that the displayed date guarantees another identical return afterward.
