Atacamite is going to be one of the crafting materials you will need to keep an eye out for in Subnautica 2, especially if you want to be able to venture into the depths of the ocean and explore different biomes, as you will need to be able to craft new materials and tools to do so. During the earlier parts of the game, you will most likely not believe Atacamite is very useful, but it is necessary for crafting Mangalloy Ingots and other significant goals in the later parts of the game.
What Is Atacamite Used For
Atacamite is one of the requirements for crafting Mangalloy Ingots, a raw material that is needed for some of the more advanced and higher tier crafting recipes in Subnautica 2. After you have built your first Metal Farm, one of the more advanced crafting pods in the game, you will definitely need a lot of Mangalloy Ingots.
Later in the game, you will be required to use a lot of Mangalloy Ingots when trying to repair the Alien Power Plant, so you should collect any Atacamite you find, just in case you will need it later on.
Where to Find Atacamite
Atacamite is usually found at depths below 250 meters near the Alien Ruins biome. To safely reach these deeper areas, you’ll need the Tadpole Depth Module, which can be obtained after exploring the Needler nest.
One of the best places to farm Atacamite is near the Alien Ruins Research Base. From the base, head about 75 degrees, east-north-east. Follow this and jump off the cliff, continuing to fall until you see some alien houses.
In the sandy area surrounding the houses, look for a number of Atacamite deposits next to some Quartz nodes.
How to Identify Atacamite
Atacamite is fairly easy to recognize once you know what to look for. The resource appears as dark green crystal formations sticking vertically out of rocky nodes. Its bright green coloration makes it stand out clearly against the surrounding terrain.
The deposits are commonly found on sandy surfaces near alien structures and rocky formations.
How to Mine Atacamite
To collect Atacamite, you’ll need to use the Sonic Resonator. Simply target the crystal node and break it apart to gather the resource.
Because several deposits often spawn close together, this area is one of the most efficient farming spots in the game.
It's pretty easy to mine Luxite once you know how. First, head to the Alien Ruins located below 250 meters. Once you arrive, look for the sandy sections near the alien settlements. There, you can find plenty of green crystal formations. Get as many as you can early on as they save your time later in the game.
