The International 2026 Heads to Shanghai for 15th Anniversary Celebration

Every year, the most dedicated Dota 2 players from around the world unite with a single goal — to overcome the toughest opponents and prove themselves as the strongest team on the planet. Talent, ambition, and sacrifice intertwine throughout the season, where every decision, every risk, and every mistake can either strengthen a team’s legacy or tear it apart.

In 2026, the journey will culminate in China, as The International celebrates its 15th anniversary. The world’s best Dota 2 teams will gather at the East Sports Center in Shanghai from August 20–23 to compete for the Aegis of Champions on the game’s grandest stage.

A total of sixteen teams will fight for the title. The lineup will include both directly invited squads and those who battle their way through the Open Qualifiers (June 9–12) and Regional Qualifiers (June 15–28). Before the main event begins, all qualified teams will compete in a Swiss-format group stage from August 13–16, with only eight advancing to the main stage in Shanghai.

Ticket details will be announced closer to the event. Meanwhile, the competitive Dota 2 calendar remains packed, with even more action expected throughout the year as teams across all regions fight to earn their place at The International 2026 and a chance to lift the Aegis in Shanghai.
