Dota 2 has launched a collaboration with the Monster Hunter game series, where players will hunt heroes and collect materials to create unique sets. The event began on November 11, 2025, and will run until February 6, 2026.
Four types of materials are available for crafting items — common, uncommon, rare, and ultra-rare. Each is divided into subtypes, with a total of 36 types of resources available in the game. These are necessary for creating various parts of the sets.
Players earn materials during matches by selecting an enemy hero-target at the beginning of the game. Materials are awarded for participating in their defeat and winning the match; however, some resources are deducted upon losing. This mechanic brings the process closer to the classic hunting system from Monster Hunter.
At the start of the event, each player receives a Palico courier, one of the companions from the Monster Hunter universe. Six hero sets with classic outfits from the original series can be created for free. More rare items will require purchasing a campaign kit or fully completing other crafts.
The Dota 2 x Monster Hunter event marks the first major collaboration between Valve and Capcom. It combines hunting mechanics, resource gathering, and step-by-step progression. The event finale is scheduled for February 6, 2026.
